Outer Shelf

COSZO cabled node on the outer continental shelf off Oregon, ~110 m deep (node PN1D).

Overview

Outer Shelf is a new COSZO cabled node (PN1D) on the outer continental shelf off Oregon, at roughly 110 meters water depth. It extends the OOI Regional Cabled Array with a purpose-built seafloor geophysical station in the shallowest part of the COSZO footprint.

The node hosts a co-located geophysical sensor suite — a broadband ocean-bottom seismometer, a calibrated seafloor pressure gauge (GSSM), a differential pressure and point-current sensor (VEL3D), a self-calibrating pressure sensor (PREST), and a low-frequency hydrophone — all cabled for continuous, real-time data return.
