Mid Slope

COSZO cabled node on the mid continental slope off Oregon, ~1,250 m deep (node PN1B).

Overview

Mid Slope is a new COSZO cabled node (PN1B) on the mid continental slope off Oregon, at roughly 1,250 meters water depth. It sits between the shelf sites and the deep Slope Base station, sampling deformation and seismicity across the seaward extent of the locked megathrust.

The node hosts a co-located geophysical sensor suite — a broadband ocean-bottom seismometer, a calibrated seafloor pressure gauge (GSSM), a differential pressure and point-current sensor (VEL3D), a self-calibrating pressure sensor (PREST), and a low-frequency hydrophone — all cabled for continuous, real-time data return.
